After long research on Search Engine Optimization, I came to understand some of the following SEO tios. I just want to share the following top 15 Search Engine Optimization Tips. that will aid you in your search campaign. If you follow these tips, be sure to see your site improve in google ranking within 50 days.
- Submit site to google, yahoo, bing, ask, dmoz and any other major search engine through the following urls:
- www.google.com/addurl
- Bing webmaster – for both yahoo and bing
- Submissions.ask.com/ping?u=http://your_website_sitemap.xml
- www.dmoz.org – AOL automatically adds you from dmoz
- dir.yahoo.com – standard directory submission for non-commercial sites
- Create a bing webmaster account and google webmaster account. Verify the accounts, and login to submit sitemap (very neccessary).
- You may also submit to other blog or website directories. You can find a list of other directories by just googling it out. Caution: You must avoid directories that require reciprocal links because it would affect your google SERP listing negatively. Google latest penguin update penalizes reciprocal linking.
- Your webpage should have only one description meta tag and one h1 tag (<h1>SEO content</h1>). Google would extract the entry “SEO content” for a keyword. If by mistake description meta tag is double, Google is likely to ignore it. It can also ignore it if it seems to deviate from what your main content is about.
- Use a keyword meta tag because of yahoo. Yahoo says it still uses keyword meta tag in site SERP ranking. Google Ignores this meta tag anyway.
- Title tag is one of the most important tags in your website. It can affect your traffic. Note: You can use different title for different pages but its best your page name reflect across for consistency. Consistency can boost your ranking. For example: If page name is “tips and tricks”,
“Tips and tricks : css background-image hack”
Would rank better than
“CSS background-image hack”.
Be always sensitive to use keyword-rich title. It’s advisable you do keyword research using bing or google keyword research tools before choosing an appropriate title. These tools will let you know the related phrases most-commonly searched for.
- Meta keywords must always be within the head section of your html codes. See example:

- Don’t bother to use title attribute within tags: It has no effect on SEO. Things like <a href=”#” title=”SEO tips”>Click here</a> are a waste because search engine would pick “click here” for a keyword and ignore “SEO tips”. If your keyword is “SEO tips”, its better like this: <a href=”#”>SEO tips</a>. It is preferable you use rel=”SEO tips” in place of title=”SEO”. If ever you use title attribute within tags avoid duplicate entry so it doesn’t harm you.
- Use alt tag with images. Search Engines uses that also as keyword. Example looks like this <img src=”#” alt=”SEO techniques” />.
- In summary, tags such as <em>, <h2>, <a>, <title>, <h1>, <meta> and <img> should be loaded with appropriate keywords. Cloud Tags are also good but use moderately. Google’s penguin can penalize you for abusing tag clouds. I will advice you have only a few (say about three) per page. The words in these tag clouds should also be found within the page. Too many tag clouds can make robot see you as a link trader.
- Use 301 error to redirect search engines for pages you have changed or moved permanently; and 302 error for pages moved temporarily. This shows your site is still being maintained than allowing search engines to report link not found error.

Don’t pay for a link referral program or exchange links. Such black hat techniques can harm you. Post good contents so that you can get quality backlinks. Quality backlinks are those ones that come from websites having related contents. A visitor who likes your content can create such backlinks. Warning: two-way linking is now a dangerous practice. So don’t show appreciation by returning theirs.
- Get backlinks from Authority Pages. Authority pages are pages with very high page ranks. Most social networks are authority pages. So you can create fan page with them. You post your links there from time to time, also boosts your ranking. You can create a page with facebook, blog with myspace, group with linkln, e.t.c. Sometime, search engines do not (or may not quickly) find them, Its best you add a link to them from your site. When they are crawled, they are counted as authority backlinks.
- As part of a measure to get backlink from authority sites, another technique I stumbled on somewhere requires you to put hidden links to search engines themselves. I do consider it an advanced black hat technique. Pending when google discovers, this technique still works. You know, when you query search engines like this: www.google.com/search?q=site:tag4free.blogspot.com, it will show all links from this blog that are indexed on google. For other search engine, the structure looks different. When crawler finds this link it follows it. After some months, google is added to the list of site that have a backlink to my site.
- Finally, latest development in google algorithms will reward you better for site content than attempting to fool robot. Your site should be rich in content and be targeted at benefiting the user not the search engine. I mean create content for users, and you will have google crawler advantage. Google crawler searches your site for keywords and compares words in your site. By looking out for word variations, it understands which words are very important to your site. E.g Smiling cat, smile cat, cat smile, etc.
